Change Is was financed by comedian, Bob Monkhouse who teamed up with Newcastle entrepreneur Ronnie Markham in an attempt to open a club that would offer something different to the many other clubs in the city at that time. They always wore wine coloured suits and cowboy small ties. Such a shame it all came to an end way too soon. I also went to the Playground on Westgate Road until about 1976. Used to go to the GoGo Young Set,we were only 14/15 , sit and watch the older ones dance then go home and practice, following week we were there on the dance floor, giving it large..
